Can Real Strategy Work on a Phone?
Strategy games were built for keyboards and mouse precision, so porting them to phones is a minefield. Most attempts drown you in menus and tiny buttons.
The ones that work rethink the whole thing. Ironline Command trimmed its scope to a handful of units and a readable map, and suddenly fast tactical decisions felt great on a touchscreen.
What you lose is depth and macro-management. What you gain is speed and the ability to play a full match in a short break. That's a fair trade for a lot of players.
My take: don't expect a PC-grade experience, but don't dismiss mobile strategy either. The genre has quietly found its feet on phones for the right kind of match.
